I will admit that there are plenty of bizarre dynamics between these two-- besides, even though you know my opinion of Uchihacest, that moment where Itachi's got Sasgay up against the wall? Even I was screaming 'WALLSEX!' at the TV so loud I probably confused our neighbors xD

Those two episodes are made of win in any case. Sasuke's pretty to look at but almost two full episodes of him having his ass handed to him by Itachi? Priceless ♥

--Now that I've written this longass comment, I'm trying to think back about young Itachi. Do you think he went through anything specific to make him more, I dunno, cold? Or did he just work to hide his personality more around his clan?

Actually I think that Itachi has always been cold, after all if you look at the series he's never been particularly kind or extrovert with anyone but Sasuke and we know that he was faking it just to plasmate the boy to be his rival.
Actually I think that Itachi is pretty similar to Orochimaru, both guys have this fixation for power and don't care about how much it would cost to get what they want; I sense in Itachi a need of "order", though... He hated the Uchiha clan because it was "restricted", made of worthless persons... Probably he joined Akatsuki, an "organization", because he wanted to be associated with skilled persons.

--I was rewatching episode 129 and as the guys said, Itachi showed this side of his personality after he joined ANBU... Maybe he was part of Root, like Sai? It seems that Root guys have this thing for individuality, coldness and devotion towards an higher concept of "mission"...

theres HARDLY anything that catches my attention. >__< im so picky. i never even finished watching Kyou Kara Maoh and thats got Shonen-Ai and under tones of Yaoi and what not. i havent even SEEN bleach. im just to picky or its not in my price range or out in Australia or all that i see of it is bashing. ;____;

and now i must go find Rhys, muzzle Roy/Archer and Fem!Archer/Archer family muses and kick open the GIMP. WAAA! to much work and not enough time.

I love all those episodes. Because Itachi leaning in to torment Sasuke? it's like he can't help himself,what with all the long distance/don't touch me kunai fighting he does). He sits behind Sasuke in the Tsukiyomi as well and SMILES. WTF? XD (Plus,...Itachi butt makes me laugh so hard.)

Their dynamic IS incredibly intriguing. There was a love that was starting to slide into resentment and hatred--Itachi the Prodigy was EVERYWHERE as far as Sasuke's life at school or with his father went, but not the Brother himself.

And Itachi fanning that (pretty normal) resentment into hatred? I read somewhere that despite Itachi seeing Sasuke more than their family, he doesn't seem to really see his little brother either. Perhaps Itachi tried to see things as he thought Sasuke did (i.e. being Second Best)--and hated it so much that he thought Sasuke must hate him too.

I still boggle that Itachi CHOSE Sasuke. He's shown he doesn't rely on anyone but his own skill and intelligence. WHY Sasuke?

Itachi also gets twitchy whenever Kakashi mentions Sasuke's name. He's not as immune to his own emotions as he shows.

Sasuke's horror and twisted admiration/idol worship for his brother...ok I better stop. XD XD XD;;;;

Nice observation! When Sasuke complains about Itachi being "So far away" you don't understand if he's talking about his superiority as a ninja or about the lack of brotherly love in his life-- Also if Itachi show that (fake) caring side of him only to Sasuke.

Speaking of the hatred issue-- I don't know why Itachi insisted so much on this point with Sasuke... It's as for the training: why does he avoid his little brother if he wants him to be stronger than him? Probably the "potential" that Itachi talks about is the fact that Sasuke's inferiority complex would bring him to focus on surpassing Itachi, expressing his true power, instead of just be happy with serving the clan...
